Letter from Daniel & Lucy Hyams

December, 8th 2011

Dear Member,

in 1967 when Domitilla started Little Eden she had a limited knowledge of the social complexities that involves the upbringing of children with profound intellectual disability. What Domitilla did have was the sensitivity and the awareness of the extreme anguish that mothers experienced in the care of their intellectually disabled child and her initial intention was to provide relief and support for these mothers.

However, her work led her into the unexplored field of caring for the needs of these special children. Her instinctive wisdom, firm faith in Divine Providence and the strength of her conviction that she was carrying out God's will were like the seed of a mustard plant that, no matter how small its beginning, was able to set down roots that produced a tall and sturdy tree that is now Little Eden.

Two days after Domitilla passed away on January 18 this year at the age of 92, we celebrated the completion of the last project she had envisioned for Little Eden: that of welcoming the three Sisters of the Imitation of Christ into their permanent accommodation.

Domitilla's dreams for Little Eden's special children have come full circle.

Thank you for agreeing to continue nurturing this tree through your prayer, time and talents. Every contribution helps us to carry on Domitilla's remarkable legacy of Respect, Sanctity of Life and Love & Care for her angels that she treasured so much!

May you and yours be richly blessed by the Holy Family this Christmas time; and may 2012 be filled with health, happiness and prosperity!
